What are the membership requirements?

The only requirement we have to join our boating community here at Freedom Boat Club is you must be 21 years of age or older to join. It doesn’t matter if you have been boating your whole life, or have never set foot on a boat — everyone is welcome! 

How does it work?

Easy! Once you’ve joined our boating club, all you have to do is make a reservation either online or over the phone, tell us what boat you want and what time, and we will make sure that your boat is ready and waiting for you when you get here! The only thing you have to worry about is refueling the boat once you’re done — that’s it! 

Can you bring guests? 

Absolutely — what fun would boating adventures be without friends and family there to enjoy it with you? As long as there is at least one Freedom Boat Club of Delaware member present, you can bring as many friends, coworkers, long-lost relatives, or acquaintances as you’d like.

Do you need a boating license? 

The answer to this question is both yes and no. Yes, you do need a boating license to operate our boat share boats. However, you do not need a boating license to join Freedom Boat Club of Delaware. We provide you with the proper training and licensing for free when you join our boat club.

What all is included in the boating club membership? 

Freedom Boat Club has over 175 different locations all across the U.S., Canada, and parts of Europe. Check out our locations list for the exact locations of a Freedom Boat Club near you. Your Freedom Boat Club of Delaware membership includes access to the boat share boats at all of these locations for no extra charge. We take care of the storage, cleaning, and maintenance of all of the boats so that you don’t have to. How often do I get to use the boats? 

There is no limit as to how often you can use the boats here at Freedom Boat Club in Delaware! You can go boating all day, every day for a month straight if that’s what you want to do! The only limiting factor is that you can only hold a maximum of four reservations at any given time. 


What types of boats can I use? 

Our boat share fleet is constantly evolving and changing. The boating vehicles that are available vary by location. Here in Delaware, there are multiple Freedom Boat Club locations. In general, our fleets include deck boats, bowriders, pontoon boats, sailboats, cruisers, and more. If I vacation near another Freedom location, can I use their boats too? 

Yes, you can! You have full access to the largest boating club in the world and can go boating with any of our boats around the world. Just call ahead and make your reservation or make your reservation ahead of time online, head to the dock, and your boat will be waiting for you — whether you are in your home state or not.

Is everything you need included? 

Yes, all necessary gear is included on the boat in order to comply with U.S. Coast Guard regulations. The equipment provided includes:


  • Life jackets
  • Flares
  • Sound equipment
  • Fire extinguisher


Every boat is inspected by Freedom Boat Club of Delaware staff before you arrive at the docks for your boating adventure to make sure that you have a safe and secure day on the bay.
